Long time No Update....Sorry!!...--.October 22nd 2006
Well its been a few months since I have done anything here, sorry!!! Now I have a ton of stuff to add from August, September & October. We've had a busy few months and with Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas all right around the corner the rest of the year is going to be just as busy. Someone wasn't too smart putting 3 major holidays all in a row. Although I do enjoy the yearly traditions of the holiday season, I have to wonder why is it only Americans who celebrate all these Holidays at the end of the year???

So what will be coming soon??????? Lots of photos of Dakota starting Summer Camp, School and other fun stuff. A NEW addition to the family. We moved across town at the beginning of September to be closer to Dakota's school. Yet another Scrapbook Convention was in town, fun, fun!!! I still have a lot of new scrapbook layouts to add. And I am doing another Digital Scrapbook class, so there will also be more digi layouts coming too. And who knows what else!!!
Digital Scrapbooking........ July 24th, 2006
I just posted two Digital Scrapbook Layouts, one I just did tonight and the other I did last Friday. Both of these layouts are for an online digital scrapbooking class I am currently doing at Bigpicturescrapbooking.com with Renee Pearson. The class is on Photoshop Brushes. So these are my first two layouts using brushes!!! Vahoo!!!
So what Digital Scrapbooking?????
Well pretty much its putting together a scrapbook layout on your computer, using digital imaging software. The most common is one version or another of Photoshop.
I am using Photoshop Elements 4.0 Mac. Love it!! I have slowly been learning digital scrappin' and have learnt alot. Remember it all started when I lost all our digital photos at the beginning of the year!! I still don't know how I did it!! But I did recover most of the photos and in the process learnt a ton about computers and windows and came oh so close to throwing ours out the window!!! Really!! Seriously!!!
Actually for me digital scrapbooking really started at the Scrapbook Convention I went to in October 2005. Where I meet Renee Pearson, author of "Digital Designs for Scrapbooking." I wasn't into or even interested in "digi scrappin", I scrapbook the traditional style, with paper, scissor, adhesive and stuff!!! After a really great conversation with Renee, I was thinking differently and was interested in checking out digi scrappin'. Renee's book is awesome!!! I really wasn't sure I would get into this, it looked pretty complicated & on our disfunctioning windows computer it was a slow process!! The computer kept freezing up!!! Thus the appeal to the window!!! :)
In May we changed over the Apple. OMG, it's so much better. All I can say is,"Once ya gone Mac, you'll never go back!!"
So I pulled out Renee's book and gave it another try. Hey, on a computer that actually works, the process is so much fun!! I like this digi scrappin stuff!!! There's so much you can do and all at a click of a button!!! Thanks Renee!!!
I still have a ton to learn but am having a blast as I work out digi scrappin'. The first layouts I have completed I will add soon, they are layouts I did from the exercises in Renee's book, "Digital Designs for Scrapbooking." And now I have at least the basics down I hope to finish some more digi layouts in the near future.

Happy Scrappin'
And off to School she goes......... July 8th, 2006
Hope everyone is having a wonderful July!!!
Well the big decision has been made, with Dakota's help we found a great school that we are all very happy with. Dakota will be attending a Montessori School and will start Kindergarten on August 28th. Touring the schools has helped with some of Dakota's reservations about starting school but she's still not completely sure about the whole thing. One day she is all for it and the next there's just no way she is going!! So in August Dakota will be going to Summer Camp for two weeks. How American!!! She will go to her school each day and do fun stuff and make some new friends. How fun!! Actually we're really hoping that at the end of the two weeks all her reservations will be gone and she will be ready to start school without any fuss. Fingers & toes crossed!! ;0
It was a very busy month for Dakota, picking out a new school and she also got her 5 year old shots for school. She was such a brave girl, she totally knew what she was in for when we went to the appointment and she handled it great. She sat up on Mummies lap and held her arm out, the first two went really smoothly but the third wasn't so good. "That one hurt", Dakota said!!!

Our 4th of July was very quiet, it's just too flippin' hot here to do anything!!!!
We enjoyed the weekend at home, we tried to enjoy some time outside either early morning or late afternoon. We have a little pool in the backyard that Dakota likes to splash around in and Ed has been pushed into a couple of times!!!!
We also enjoyed watching some great tennis at Wimbledon.

Well this is going to be a short update. But I have alot to add to the site, so more will be coming very soon.........

Have a great weekend!!!
June Update....Finally!!! June 12th, 2006.

WOW, I can't believe it's already June. Where has the year gone?? It definitely has been a busy one for us so far. So the last time I wrote Ed had just hurt his foot, that just wasn't fun at all!!! Long story short, we got a lot of run around from the doctors due to not having health insurance. The good news is that Ed doesn't need surgery. YIPPEE!! His leg was in a cast for about 5 week total, it's now been out for a few weeks. So the bone has healed really well, all that bed-rest paid off!! Now it's all the muscles & ligaments that are still very sore. But each day it is improving and Ed is able to walk on his foot better, it's just going to take some time we're told. But finally, yes finally Ed is up walking around and has been for a couple of weeks, thank goodness!! All I have to say is that men are the worst & most demanding patients!!!In April we celebrated Dakota's 5th Birthday. Dakota had a wonderful day and was totally spoilt. What can I say, she's an only child!!! Since Ed was laid up we spent the day at home, opening presents & doing fun birthday stuff. We had a Birthday Dinner, Dakota's choice was pizza & birthday Cake. Cousin Carrie came over for dinner, but Charleston was unable to join us, he was hard at work not having any fun at all!! If I remember correctly he was working at a Casino Pool Party, with a lot of scantily dressed women (this is Vegas after all!!), it must of been a really hard night for him!!!! tehe!!
May was spent running to doctors appointments and recouping from April!!! Summer arrived early and boy did it get hot fast!! It has already been consistently close to 100oF for a few weeks now, including a couple of days at near 110oF. There's no end in sight, its only going to get hotter!! It's not usually this hot this early in the summer, we're just getting lucky this year. Towards the end of May Marge went to Florida for a 5 week vacation. She has been having a great time catching up with all her friends there. And isn't she lucky a hurricane is blowing into Florida this weekend to pay her a visit, just like old times!!! Hurricane Alberto wont really affect were Marge is though, she will just enjoy some nice rain, which she hasn't seen for awhile!! The end of May we celebrated Ed's Birthday. It was over the Memorial Day weekend so we enjoyed celebrating all weekend. Really we just enjoyed a relaxing long weekend, not really doing much of anything. It's too hot to do much anyway!!!
And now here we are in June, WOW!! So now we find ourselves trying to find a school for Dakota to start at in August. Can you beleive it, she's already starting school!!! We actually did a tour of one school today and will look at 3 more over the next couple of days. Dakota isn't sure about this whole school business, she was OK until she found out that we wouldn't be staying there with her!!! Dakota says, "I'm a little nervous about starting school!!! We're in for some fun come August!!!! Dakota is also doing the tours of the schools with us, seeing the first one today really seemed to help. By the end of the week she will be telling us which one she likes the best and she'll be ready to start school next week.........we hope!!!!
So I think that pretty much brings you all up to date!! Sorry it's been so long, blame Ed & his foot!!! I will do my best to post another update soon. More photos are to be posted soon, along with some scrapbook layouts that are almost finished. There's going to some long hot days ahead so I am hoping to get some time to do more to the site.

Have a great week!!
Ed took a Tumble!!!!!! April 8th, 2006.

Yeap,  he did it this time!!!!    On Thursday Ed made a quick stop at a gas station near his work to get a drink & oil for the car.   After putting the oil in the car, he stepped off the curb to get back into the car and next thing he knew he hit the ground!!!!      The asphalt next to the car was uneven, so when Ed stepped down he twisted he foot on it  & heard a crack in his foot!!!!     At this point he thought/hoped it was just a bad sprain.   Some how Ed managed to drive himself home and then Dakota & I took him to the emergency room.   By the time we got to the hospital Ed couldn't walk at all!!!!    So after 6 hours of sitting at the hospital,  we were told that  the Little Toe Bone were the ligaments meet the bone,  is fractured. (Fingers crossed its not broken.)  The doctor then went on to tell us that this is the worse bone in your foot to do anything to!!   They couldn't set it in a full cast due to the swelling,  but they did put a split on it.  Ed is now on complete bed rest,  the slightest pressure on the foot could break it!!  hey!!!  We have to see a orthopedic surgeon next week to have it x-rayed again & have a full cast put on also.  At that time we will also find out if surgery is needed,  we've already been told that because of were the fracture is,  it will need a pin to properly heal.  All up Ed could be laid up for 8 to 12 weeks,  he can't do anything.   The last couple of days the bruising on Ed foot has kept us entertained!!!      More pretty pictures to come!!!
I will post another update later in the week after we have found out whats happening.
Keep your fingers & toes crossed everything works out O.K.

Dakota meets Curious George!!!!! March 25th, 2006

Last Saturday Ed & I took Dakota to the local Barnes & Noble Bookstore to meet Curious George!!!!   They had story time for the kids,  where they read the original Curious George Story.  And then George came out to meet everyone & have photos taken.   Dakota was beside herself when George came out.  This is the first live (big) character Dakota has seen,  so for a second she wasn't sure.  Then the excitement kicked in!!!   She was soooooo excited to meet Curious George,  there was lots of jumping up & down, clapping & laughing!!!It was all very cute!!!
First Dakota had to give George a big big hug & then of course it was photo time.  Then Dakota was quite happy to chat away to George & tell him all about her two bottom teeth coming out and that her top tooth is now wiggly!!!   And that her birthday is coming up & all the things she is hoping to get for her birthday!!!!  George got quite the run down!!!   After meeting George all the kids made a Curious George bookmark and had a snack.
Next month Clifford the Big Red Dog is coming to visit.  And now everyday Dakota has asked us if today is the day we go to meet Clifford!!!!
I hope the end of April comes around quickly!!!!!!

Happy Spring..............-... March 21st

HAPPY SPRING!!!!   or     HAPPY WINTER!!!

Well unfortunatly we didn't get any more snow last weekend.  It was really dissappointing,  we didn't even get any rain. It did snow on the higher elevations, the mountains all around us look really pretty covered in snow.
Ed was nice enough to bring home the Flu for everyone to catch and now for the last 10 days we have all been really sick!!  I hope we finally have it behind us.
The weather is starting to warm up and we are looking forward to enjoying some nice spring days outside before it gets too hot here.

It's Snowing in Vegas!!!! March 10, 2006

It's been forecast that we would have bad Storms this weekend,  but we thought that was a long shot.  Its been cold this winter but we haven't had any winter storms at all.  Today however when Dakota and I ran to the store it was "SNOWING"!!  Dakota was so so excited!!  She was ready to run outside to make snow angels!!  But there wasn't that much snow.  We stood out in the car park for a few minutes and then had a slippery drive home,  fortunately it stopped about half way home.  This afternoon we had a little flurry here at the house,  but it didn't last long.  I'll keep you posted as to how the weekend develops.  Theres a big car race going on in town this weekend also, so Vegas is a little more livelier then usual!!!
It's going to be a cold & wet weekend,  great scrappin' weather!!!
Maybe we will wake up to a snow in the morning!!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Another Visit from The Tooth Fairy!!

Dakota lost her second front tooth on February 6th!!  Just one month after loosing her first tooth.  Dakota was very excited to find the money the Tooth Fairy left for her!!!   It does seem that her top teeth are still in there pretty good so we think she maybe keeping them for awhile.  We did notice the other day that Dakota now has two new teeth coming through the bottom already.  This kid doesn't waste anytime!!!

CHA Convention......

For the next 4 days I will be attending the CHA Convention,  which is a big Craft & Hobby Trade Show,  closed to public.  The manufactures roll out their new product at these shows.  So pretty much I will be in "Scrapbook Heaven" over the next 4 days,  checking out all the latest trends or latest & greatest!!  Lots of new papers, all shades of color & patterns and then ofcourse anything and everything you could possibly think of to add to a scrapbook layout.  And don't forget  the latest tools that make scrapbooking so much easier!!!!   I am also going as a NSA (National Scrapbooking Assoc.) Volunteer, so we will also be talking about the various benifits the NSA has to offer.  Tuesday Night we will be attending a Designer Dinner,  Ed is also coming with us!!!!  Don't usually see to many men at these events!!! Should be intersting!!!!!!
So hopefully later this week or early next week I will have recovered enough to let you all know just how awesome going to CHA was..............hope you all have a FANTASTIC week.........

Thanks for all the Greetings & Messages,  we have loved reading them and hearing from you all...

Scrapbooking.....

Over the last few years alot of family & friends have asked what is Scrapbooking??  For me its a creative outlet and a major stress reducer!!  I keep telling Ed I am saving us a fortune in therapy bills!!!  LOL!!
Some see it as expensive.  I see it as an investment in our family, an investment that our family will cherish and enjoy for years & years to come.  And a way for future generations of our family to be able to look back and see what life was like for us at this time.  A way to remember the things we did and enjoyed as a family.  The silly things Dakota has done over the years that would have been forgotten and of course her milestone events.  Scrapbooking encompasses so much more then just putting your photos on paper.

I started Scrapbooking around March 2002,  in Lakeland, Florida.  Right from the start I was completely hooked!!!!   Unfortunately due to moving,  hurricanes & more moving I haven't done nearly as many layouts as I would have liked, but I can definitely see my scrapbooking evolving.  Just like looking back at old fashions or hair styles,  looking back at scrapbook layouts that I have completed over the last 4 years is the same!!    So finally here is a place for you all to see the layouts that I have done.  At first I thought I would just post the most recent,  but now instead I think it would be more fun to show a good selection of all the layouts I have completed over the last few years.  Even my first!!!  I am also in the process of finishing some others that I will post some more recent ones soon.

Happy Scrappin'

First Entry....... January 12th, 2006!!

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year!!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year.

We hope you are enjoying the site so far.   We are having alot of fun putting it together and look forward to adding more as we learn all the features we have available.  As I am learning the features of the site I am bummed I didn't start a site ages ago,  it's really an excellent way to get around the 2 formats between the two countries. (NTSC and PAL)  We are really hoping this turns out a great way to keep everyone updated on what we are doing & on Dakota's latest news & adventures.   There's lots of stuff so check it all out.  Photo, Video, latest News, and Scrapbooking......(finally for those of you who have been wondering what this scrapbooking stuff is all about!!!)

So to give a quick update on us.........

We have been in Las Vegas for almost a year, Feb 1st will be a year.
So far Las Vegas has been an interesting place to live!!! And so far I haven't really found to words to explain that,  sorry!!  Check out the Photo Album for some sites of Vegas.  So as a local we don't really go to the actual Strip,  you don't really need to.  There are plenty of casino's around town for the locals and I think every gas/petrol station has slot/pokie machine.  Ok,  so am I the only one that thinks this is weird....you go into Longs Drugs(drug store)/Chemist,  the whole store is non-smoking.  However there is a wall with about 10 or 15 slot machines on it, there is a small barrier around them.  But if your sitting at the slots you can smoke.  What's up with that???!!!!!   It's the drug store!!!  Only in Vegas!!!!  So you want another one.........when we first moved here we were returning the big huge 27 foot moving truck & car trailer.  We had to stop at the gas station to fill up the truck,  so Ed pulls into the gas station and there is only one pump that he can fit the truck in and theres a car there.   So he sits and waits(sort of blocking traffic abit) but it was a busy station and we thought the car owner would be back pretty quickly.  So we're still sitting........still sitting..... and still sitting.....finally I go inside to tell the attendents that someone needs to move their car.  They look out the window and know who's car it is and yells out to them to move the car.  Turns out its a little old women who's sitting at the slot machines....and it still takes her a few minutes to actually get up and longer to move the car.  Meanwhile Ed's still sitting in the huge truck pretty much blocking traffic!!!!  Now there are empty parking spaces around the gas station that you would think any person who planned to stay there for any length of time would park in.  But "NO",  this little old lady pulls around and blocks another pump in a very busy gas station!!!
And walks back inside to play the slot machine that she has saved for her!!!
Only in Vegas!!!!    And it is reasons like this that have made Las Vegas an interesting place to live.......
